Old Things Are Timeless

In an age where most everything is dispensable, I love being able to find solid pieces that made it through the age of “out with the old, in with the new”. New things just break so easily, the craftmanship of this generation just doesn’t stand the test of time like old pieces do, and for that reason, I prefer to wear old items. Plus, who doesn’t love a good old fashioned shift dress?
I’m a frequent shopper at Goodwill, where I hunt down some of the most timeless pieces imaginable. I’ve found two pairs of vintage Betsey Johnson shoes, a really cute vintage tank top that turned out to be from an old lingerie top from a shop back in the day (this was news to me), I’ve found five out of the seven hardback Harry Potter books for $2 each (steal!), and even furniture that I repainted and made my own.
It’s always so interesting to think of the people who held ownership of these items before me, I picture most of them as little old ladies who no longer wear bright pink cherry printed flats.
Anyone who knows me can testify that I’m a bit of a shopaholic, and being a college kid, that habit can be next to impossible to maintain, luckily Goodwill exists and when I feel like spending money, I can go there and fill the shopping void without foregoing food for the next week. Not to mention the fact that I find some really amazing, one-of-a-kind things.
